After the heaping attacks by worms and viruses Microsoft continues with this update of the operating system primarily on safety. With the Windows XP Service Pack one now manages the settings for network, e-mails and storage from a central location. The Service Pack 2 is now obsolete. We therefore recommend the download of Windows XP Service Pack 3 .
The core of this service pack is the new Security Center. From there, leave the firewall, virus scanners and manage the updates and control. After installing the service pack, Windows decided not to invite some security-critical services at system startup. In addition, Microsoft has introduced a new function for memory protection integrated in order to impede virus or worm attacks.
During the installation also be Internet Explorer , Outlook Express, Media Player, and a number of other programs automatically updated. Part of the update is also Movie Maker 2.1.
Conclusion
With the Windows XP Service Pack 2, Microsoft has some gaps of Windows XP closed. For security reasons, however, we recommend downloading the more recent Windows XP Service Pack 3 .

With Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, there may be compatibility problems with some programs first. Especially firewall software from other vendors could come into the enclosure with the built in Windows Firewall. Many software manufacturers offer indeed already updates for your products, but some others can certainly wait a while for it.
